This course offers an insight into nutrition and its impact on health and disease. This course is offered to individuals with an interest in expanding their knowledge of nutrition and its impact on health and who may also wish to pursue a future career in this field.
This course will provide the learner with an understanding of the following main topics:
Composition of food, the food groups and their importance in the formation of a healthy balanced diet
Dietary guidelines
Nutrition and health
Nutrition and weight management
The impact of food processing on the nutritional quality of food
Food labelling- the legal requirements and how labelling can be used to influence consumer food choices
Analysing an individual’s dietary requirements, analysing their current diet and how to provide dietary advice to enable individuals to improve the quality of their diet
